Privacy & Cookie Policy
This policy explains how the campaign to elect Caitlin "Goose" Marsh to the Johnston County Soil & Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors ("the campaign," "we," "us") handles information collected through vote4goose.com (the "site").
In short: when you fill out a form on this site, your information goes directly to systems the campaign runs — not to a third-party form service — and we share it only with the service providers named below, or when the law requires it.
Information we collect
Sign-up, updates, and endorsement forms. If you use the volunteer sign-up, the campaign-updates form, or the endorsement form, we collect what you choose to submit: your name, email address, and — depending on the form — ZIP code, phone number, your role or connection, the interests you check, and any message or endorsement you write. Submissions go straight to the campaign's own form backend (a service we run on Cloudflare, at schedule.vote4goose.com) and are stored in the campaign's database so we can follow up with you.
Call booking. If you schedule a call with the campaign, we collect your name, email address, phone number, the time slot you pick, and anything you tell us you'd like to talk about. Booking a call adds an event with those details to the campaign's Google Calendar so a real person knows when to call you, and we email you a confirmation with a calendar invite.
Donations. If you donate, we collect your name, email address, mailing address, occupation, employer, and the amount and frequency of your gift. North Carolina campaign-finance law requires us to collect and report donors' mailing address, occupation, and employer. Your card number goes directly to our payment processor, Stripe, on Stripe's secure checkout page — it never touches the campaign's servers and we never see it. Stripe tells us when a donation completes, and we record it for the disclosure reports the law requires.
Endorsements you ask us to publish. If you submit an endorsement and consent to publication, we may display your name, your role or connection, and your words on this site after we follow up with you. We never publish your email address or phone number.
Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) automatically logs basic technical information for security and performance — things like IP address, browser type, and pages requested. When you submit a form, book a call, or start a donation, we also record your IP address alongside the submission to limit spam and abuse. We do not use any of this to build advertising profiles.
Where your information is kept
Form submissions, bookings, and donation records are stored in a campaign-controlled database hosted on Cloudflare (their D1 service). The database is backed up nightly to campaign-controlled Cloudflare storage (their R2 service), and backups older than 30 days are automatically deleted. Access is limited to the small number of people running the campaign.
Cookies and bot protection
This site does not use analytics or advertising cookies. Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots: it loads a small frame from challenges.cloudflare.com and may set cookies that are strictly necessary for that check to work. When you submit a form, the Turnstile result is verified with Cloudflare along with your IP address. We don't use cookies to track you across other websites, and we don't sell or share data with data brokers or ad networks.
Third-party services
We use a small number of outside services to run the site, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Cloudflare (website hosting, the campaign's form and scheduling backend, database and backup storage, and Turnstile bot protection) — Cloudflare Privacy Policy
- Stripe (donation processing on Stripe's hosted checkout page) — Stripe Privacy Policy
- Resend (sends our confirmation and notification emails, so your name and email pass through it when we email you) — Resend Privacy Policy
- Google (call bookings are placed on the campaign's Google Calendar; the site also loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser requests those files from Google) — Google Privacy Policy
- Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn — links to our campaign profiles on these platforms are provided for your convenience. Visiting them is subject to that platform's own privacy policy, not ours.
How we use your information
We use the information you submit to respond to your questions, coordinate volunteers and yard-sign requests, schedule and make the calls you book, send campaign updates if you asked for them, and publish endorsements only with your consent. Donation records are used to comply with North Carolina campaign-finance law: contributions are reported to the North Carolina State Board of Elections as required, and reported contributions — including donor name, address, occupation, and employer — become part of the public record. We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.
Your choices
You can ask us to stop sending updates, or to access, correct, or delete the information you've given us, at any time by emailing [email protected]. One exception: campaign-finance law requires us to keep records of contributions, so we can't delete donation records the law says we must retain.
Children's privacy
This site is intended for voters and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the campaign's use of the site changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
